What a thought provoking comment. Thank you for taking the time to share that. I’d not heard of Gilbert Murray and I appreciate you sharing some of his thinking. This is a helpful line of reasoning for me, as a theologian by training, to think more about. It is fascinating to see how religion shapes societies and societies shape religion and the continual adaptations that each make with the passing of time. It would appear that Murray would provide a lot of interesting perspective on this.
